학과시험은 한국어, 영어, 중국어, 베트남어로 볼 수 있습니다. 그 밖의 언어로는 볼 수 없습니다.

글을 읽기 어려운 사람(비문해자)을 위한 PC 학과시험은 문제와 보기를 음성으로 들을 수 있고 시험시간이 총 80분입니다(민원실 접수 때 신청).
면허 시험 순서 (1종·2종 보통)
- 응시 전 교통안전교육 — 학과시험 전까지 이수(준비물: 신분증). 영문 안내 기준 1시간, 무료.
- 신체검사 — 시험장 신체검사실 또는 병원. 문경·강릉·태백·광양·충주·춘천 시험장에는 신체검사실이 없습니다.
- 학과시험 — 준비물: 응시원서, 신분증, 6개월 이내 촬영한 컬러 사진(3.5×4.5cm) 3매.
- 기능시험 — 불합격하면 불합격일로부터 3일이 지난 뒤 다시 응시.
- 연습면허 발급 — 학과·장내기능 시험에 모두 합격한 1·2종 보통 응시자.
- 도로주행시험 — 불합격하면 3일이 지난 뒤 다시 응시.
- 운전면허증 발급

외국 운전면허가 있는 경우
공단의 「시험 면제」 표에 따르면 국내 면허 인정 국가의 권한 있는 기관이 발급한 운전면허증 소지자는 2종 보통면허를 받을 때 신체검사만, 국내 면허 불인정 국가의 면허증 소지자는 신체검사와 학과시험을 봅니다. 내 나라가 어디에 해당하는지와 필요한 서류는 시험장이나 공단 고객센터(1577-1120, 카카오톡 외국어 채팅 상담)에 확인하세요.

Written test guide for foreigners
Test languages
You can take the written test (학과시험) in Korean, English, Chinese or Vietnamese. No other languages are offered.

A PC-based written test for people who cannot read well lets you listen to the questions and options; it lasts 80 minutes in total (request it when you register).
Steps to a license (Class 1 / Class 2 Ordinary)
- Pre-Test Traffic Safety Education (응시 전 교통안전교육) — 1 hour, free, must be completed before the written test. Bring your ID card.
- Physical check-up (신체검사) — at the test site’s check-up center or a hospital. Chuncheon, Gangneung, Taebaek, Chungju, Gwangyang and Mungyeong test sites have no check-up center. Fee at a test site: KRW 7,000 for Class 1 Large/Special, KRW 6,000 for other licenses.
- Written test — bring the application form, your ID card and three color photos (3.5×4.5 cm) taken within the past six months.
- Practical (course) test (기능시험) — if you fail, you can retake it three days after the date of failure.
- Learner’s permit (연습면허) — for Class 1/2 Ordinary applicants who passed the written and course tests.
- On-road test (도로주행시험) — pass mark 70; retake possible three days after a failure.
- Driver’s license issued

If you hold a foreign driver’s license
KoROAD’s exemption table says: holders of a license issued by a competent authority of a country whose licenses Korea recognizes (국내 면허 인정 국가) need only the physical check-up to get a Class 2 Ordinary license. Holders of a license from a country Korea does not recognize (불인정 국가) take the physical check-up and the written test. Ask the test site or the KoROAD call center (1577-1120; foreign-language chat on the KakaoTalk channel 「한국도로교통공단 고객센터」) which group your country is in and which documents you need.

About this practice tool
- Questions are the sentence-type items of KoROAD’s question bank on the Public Data Portal (questions valid until 10 July 2022). The real test uses KoROAD’s latest bank and also has photo, illustration, safety-sign and video questions.
- English, Chinese and Vietnamese texts here are OByeolLab reference translations. The official translations used at the test site may be worded differently.
